Glen Rainey, 1923-2018
Apr 20, 2018Boone Hospital in Columbia.Memorial services honoring Glen will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 12:00 p.m. at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. Visitation will precede the service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held at the Bethel Zion Cemetery, near Bethel following the service.Glen was born on June 22, 1923, in Shelby County, the son of Glenn Gaylord Rainey and Norma Mollie Sanders.He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Sass on July 13, 1976 in Shelbyville. She survives.Glen worked as a mechanic alongside his dad at their auto repair and blacksmith shop located in Epworth for well over 30 years. Glen also worked at Rupp Automotive, the City of Shelbina, Moberly Correctional Facility, Cass Carlson Construction, Machen’s Automotive Group, and Kia of Columbia, where he worked until January of 2017.Glen served his country during WWII as a Marine, was a member of the American Legion, was a 65 year member of Shelbina Masons and Moolah Shrine. He was a licensed pilot, avid golfer, and fisherman. Glen and Patricia loved to drive around visiting and spending time with family and friends and taking trips.Glen is survived by three children from his first marriage, Karen Dutton (Richard) of Hallsville, Karla Kiser (Alan) of Moberly, and Michael M. Rainey (special friend, Dorothy) of Shelbina. Glen is also survived by Patricia’s four children, Terry Miller of Columbia, Jim Miller of Moberly, Kristie Miller of Dallas, and Sheri Schmidt (Steve) of Flower Mound, Texas. Seven grandchildren survive, Chris Kiser, Katherine Dutton-Gillett, Tricia Malone, Brett Dutton, Michael Glen Rainey, Jenna Schmidt, Meg Schmidt; several great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret McEwen of Leonard; sister-in-law, Nancy Rainey of Oklahoma City; cousins, nieces and nephews.Glen was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Flossie Lindsey and Lucille Oshner; two brothers, Sidney and Harold Rainey; two brothers-in-law, Floyd Lindsey and Chester McEwen; and two sisters-in-law, Clarice Rainey and Jane R...
